Since the start of the new century, 1900, many young women and schoolgirls have been getting rebellious ideas such as wanting a career outside of the home and even smoking. Next thing you know, they will want the right to vote! Parents and husbands are troubled by these evil thoughts, but do not have the proper expertise or heart to use a cane on these women correct their thinking. If the cane is uses too lightly, the punishment will not be effective to change the behaviour. Used too strongly, serious injury can result and the purpose of the punishment is lost because the object is not to be cruel, but to be corrective. Emotions can also be a factor in proper punishment, the caner can be affected by the recipient's emotional response and will affect their administration of the punishment by stopping too soon or reducing the force of the strokes. In the other extreme, anger can force the caner to administer punishment too harshly, hitting other parts of the body besides the buttocks and upper thighs and cause excessive cutting of the skin and other serious injury.
I have created a female caning academy as a public service to the community. My establishment offers high standards of effective punishment and safety, using only the best bamboo made into canes by highly skilled craftsman which will give the maximum pain possible without injury. I also have the experience to maintain the and properly prepare the canes for use, I do not know how many lots of bamboo and finished canes I rejected because they did not meet my high standards. My assistants and I usually punish up to fifty young women a day and we strive to offer professional services. If my services does cause any injury, which is extremely rare, I have nurses on site to treat the injury and prevent infections. Our business consists mostly of the wives and daughters of the city's most prominent citizens. We also have contracts with several schools for young women and even a few women who come in on their own because they enjoy the experience. The first step is for me, the client, and the correctee to decide exactly what the infraction was and what the suitable punishment will be. To assist in this task, I have created a list of recommended punishments for various infractions. Upon agreement and discussion, the individual infractions are noted and the number of strokes of the cane is set. This process insures that the correctee knows exactly why she is being punished.
The correctee is then taken to the changing room, where maids assist her in completely undressing and fitting her into a punishment dress to preserve some modesty and prevent secondary injuries from the restraints. It is not really a dress in the traditional sense because it comes in two parts. The top part looks more like a man's night shirt that has extra long sleeves and comes down halfway to the knees. The area around the wrists and waist is extra thick so the restraints do not directly bind the skin. The lower part is very similar to women's pantaloons with the exception that the legs are extra long and extra padding is located at the ankles and back of knees, again for protection from the restraints.
As you have already guessed, there is no back panel on the pantaloons, allowing complete and unfettered access to the buttocks and upper thighs. All canings are administered on the bare bottom so the caner can judge the effects and place all the strokes on an unpunished area. Since many correctees lose control of their bladder during the punishment, the crotch is lined with absorbent cotton padding, similar to diapers. Extra strokes are administered if the correctee does lose control. The pantaloons are held up by a cord that passes through a channel around the waist and tied in the back.
The next step is to fit the restraints on the waist, ankles, and wrists, placing them over the punishment dress. They are made out of soft, but firm leather which will not move when secured in place. The restraints have rings on them for clipping them to the caning bench' chains. Restraints are always used, the greatest cause of secondary is when the women moves around while being caned. It is hard to hit a moving target accurately, restraints hold the correctee perfectly still. After the correctee is prepared, she is taken to the caning room to wait until a caning bench is available. They can see and hear everything going on in the caning room, I feel that anticipation of punishment is almost as bad as the actual punishment, driving home the full effects of the correction.
The caning room is about fifty by fifty feet square. There are about ten caning benches surrounded by a painted circle on the floor around each bench. The purpose of the circle is so that people can walk around without fear of being accidentally struck by a swinging cane. Only a caner and the correctee being punished can be inside the circle during the caning. Along one wall is an observation gallery behind a one way mirror, so clients can observe the punishments. Next to the client's observation room is a separate observation room for the general public. After payment of a moderate fee to cover expenses for the observation room, can watch and see for themselves how I am preserving the family. The caning room is very well lit by electric lights and a huge skylight. In various hidden closets movie cameras are placed to record the proceedings, for professional reasons and critical analysis of the method of correction. Copies of films are made and sold outside of town to support my business. By using these two forms of revenues, I can keep my fees competitive.
When a caning bench is ready, the correctee is lead to it. First she steps up on a removable step at the foot of the bench and bends forward. She stretches her arms way above her head and the wrist restraints are attached to chains that are clinched down tight. There is a hole in the table for the correctee's bosom to hang through. Next to be secured is the waist restraint, which resembles a belt. The rings on the belt are secured to chains just like the wrists restraints and tighten down. The step she was standing on is then removed, leaving her feet hanging in the air. The ankles are then slightly spread apart and secured to the caning bench uprights. A bar is inserted through guides that directs it behind the knees and the guides are pulled forward to force the knees in and the buttocks up to the proper position. The back of the top part of the punishment dress is pulled up and pinned out of the way. Her buttocks are fully exposed and her entire bottom is swabbed with a special spanking oil I mix myself that also contains an antiseptic agents to sanitize the skin if any cuts are made.
The cane is taken out of it's container, which is filled with water to keep it supple. The dampness of the cane, along with the oil applied to the buttocks, causes a very painful string without using excessive force. After a check to insure that no bystanders are in the circle, the caner finds their mark on the floor, aims, and swings the cane forward and places the tip exactly where they want it.
The first stroke is more of a surprise to the correctee than it is painful, the full effect of the stroke takes fifteen seconds to register. It never fails to amaze me how the cane first leaves no mark, then an angry, red welt slowly starts to form. The first stroke usually knocks out the breath out of the correctee and two or three more strokes are usually applied before she recovers enough and starts to scream and thrash against the restraints, but she is held fast and cannot get out of the way of the biting cane. Then the fourth stroke, fifteen seconds, fifth stroke, fifteen seconds repeating this pattern until the punishment is complete. For maximum effect and to prevent injury, there is a two minute rest period every ten strokes. By the time the pain of the first course starts to subscribe, the second course of caning starts. Thus she feels every stroke.
The caners lay the welts in rows, much like venation blinds, so there is minimum crossing of the welts where the intersection of welts is the most likely source of cuts. The caners also change position from the right side to the left side of the correctee so there is complete coverage of the entire bottom. After the punishment is administered, the correctee is released from the bench and usually carried to the recovery room. Her now reddened bottom is examined by a nurse and treated, if needed, for cuts. After a short rest, she is then dressed and sent home.
As you can see, I have attempted to make the entire process as impersonal and efficient as possible. Unfortunately, there is a human factor involved in the administration of the cane. For example, fatigue after a long day could mean that correctees who are caned later in the day may not be as effectively punished as correctees who were punished earlier. You try to keep your emotions in check, but when you have a screaming, crying schoolgirl trying pull free of her restraints, it can effects the caner and so may unconsciously hold back the strokes just a little. On the other hand, if a young woman is too quiet, the caner may think that the punishment is not being effective and so may swing the cane harder than needed. Human nature also means impatience, a caner may not wait the full fifteen seconds for the stroke to reach full effect and so lessen the entire punishment by applying the strokes too fast, she - must - feel - every - stroke or the correction may fail.
For along time I have been thinking of ways to punish the correctees in a fair and consistent method so the punishment will be equal for all of them. Training and experience can only take you so far, how to reduce to eliminate the human factor?
The idea came to me one day when I was reading an article about some horseless carriage maker named Henry Ford who developed something called an assembly line where the same task was accomplished over and over again. Was there some way that an assembly line could be designed for caning? I kept the idea in my head and rolled it over and over again until at the county fair I saw how this idea could bear fruit. I was watching the carousel going round and round and other rides that swing out riders on a rod attached to chairs. Can I combine those two actions together for an effective canning machine? When I got home that night, I sketched out a few ideas and later visited a friend who was an Industrial Engineer.
I now will describe the results of this machine, which I simply call the Clock. I contracted with a carousel manufacturer to build and install a modified carousel at my place of business. On this carousel, I installed twelve caning benches in place of the craved animals that are usually found there. The benches corresponded to the number positions of a clock face, which is why I named it the name the Clock.
At the two, five, eight, and eleven o'clock positions on the floor, not on the carousel itself, I installed four caning posts. I set them up so two were on the left side of the caning bench and two were on the right side. The idea is that the carousel will the caning bench to each post in turn, where machinery will swing the canes and strike the correctee's bottom. Two positions will be the caning bench mount and dismount points, the remaining positions will be rest areas.
The four caning posts stood at the aforementioned clock positions. Inside of these posts were installed ingenious air-driven machines that swung a cane at an exact preset force and a stepper gear assembly that dropped the arm holding the cane down an inch so the same welt was not hit twice. All this I controlled from a central control panel. After much adjustment and trials on willing bottoms, (recall that some clients were also correctees, I tried out the Clock on them for free) the Clock was finally finished and ready for general service.
After all the steps previously written under the prior one on one system were accomplished, the correctee was secured on the bench at the twelve o'clock position. A number was hung on a pole at the head of the bench which could be seen from the control panel. This number corresponded with the line number in a ledger book, which was kept at the central control panel, entry that had the name, infraction, and number of strokes to be received. Since there were four caning posts, the total number of strokes was divided by four and the number set for each post. For example, if the punishment was set for twenty strokes, east post was set for five strokes each.
When all was ready, a lever at the twelve o'clock position was pulled by and assistant, the entire "clockface" moved forward one click and then stopped. The correctee who was secured at twelve o'clock position is now at the one o'clock position. From there, she can look to her left and see the correctee who was formerly at the one o'clock position now at the two o'clock position being given the first quarter of her punishment. On her right, another correctee was being secured to the caning bench that had moved into the twelve o'clock position from the eleven o'clock position. After a wait that seems to the correctee to last hours, the lever is pulled again when the correctee was secured at the twelve o'clock position. The Clock advances one step and the correctee is now at the two o'clock position and is about to be given the first installment of her punishment. At the central control panel, I check the ledger and the number above the correctee's head and sets the number of strokes for each post and press the start button.
There is an evil sounding hissing as the cane is drawn back and suddenly a load whoosh sound is heard as the automated cane flies forward, terminating the sound at the same instant the load snap of the cane strikes home, causing the correctee to stiffen and try to cry out, the red welt slowly appearing. The cane is withdrawn by air pressure automatically and, while drawing back, the stepper gear drops the level of the cane down an inch. The post patiently waits for the fifteen second counter to reset to zero and the cane swings forward again, adding a new welt just below the prior one. The cane swings and swings until the proper amount of strokes is administered. It is truly a beautiful sight to behold, several perfect, parallel lines across the smooth white buttocks. Indeed, a work of art, the canes being the brush and the buttocks the canvas, framed by the punishment dress.
The Clock continues to move the caning bench all around in a circle, stopping at each clock position. The correctee will either enter a rest or caning position until the eleven o'clock position is reached. Critiques afterward stated that this punishment was more painful than the prior method. Records show that injuries by human error were practically eliminated.
Sometimes for cause or if a young woman relieved herself during the punishment, they will not be released at the eleven o'clock position, but immediately go through the Clock a second time. One schoolgirl was so incorrigible and unrepentant, she went through the Clock four times until humbled. The Clock continually cranks out the punishment throughout the day. Since it is patented, no rivals can legally build a similar device for quite a while. The Clock has gotten a reputation of fear and respect, but there never a shortage of schoolgirls and young woman to ride the Clock.
